Produce in Me – Week 8

This week I have a special challenge for you all.  It’s the black pen challenge!  A few months ago God put this on my heart, but I have been hesitant to do it because I love being creative and using fun materials in my Bible and traveler’s notebook.  This week I was stressing about not having a special new technique to share with you all, and it made me pause and think.  God can give us creativity using just a black pen.  We do not need to go out and buy new supplies or use crazy things in Bible journaling.  All we need is God’s Word and a pen.

This week’s devotion has some fun images with a lot of symbolism.  The devotion mentions two Bible verses that talk about having faith the size of a mustard seed.  Mustard seeds are very tiny, so many of the images this week have little circles on them to represent the mustard seed.

The fruit for this week is an orange.  Oranges have little seeds, just about the size of a mustard seed.  In the devotion, I also mention Luke 17, which talks about being able to move a tree with your faith.  I kept thinking about an orange tree with deep roots, jumping up and moving because of our faith.

He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. Luke 17:6

Mountains were another image that kept popping into my head as I studied faithfulness.  I love the simplicity of only using a black pen with the images.  It is simple, but powerful to see the big mountain next to the small seed.

In my traveler’s notebook I reflected on the definition of faith.  (Head to Hebrews 11 if you want some more amazing scriptures about this topic!)  I also journaled about the connection between God’s amazing love and faith.
