Freebie: New Beginnings

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life].” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Did you know that you are a new creation?  Let that soak in.  If you have said yes to Jesus, you have new life!  You don’t have to be weighed down by the past.  You have a new beginning in the Lord.

This free devotional was created with Easter in mind.  It was created to help us celebrate the new life of Resurrection Sunday.  This devotional was created with spring in mind.  It was created to help us remember what new life looks like.  Winter is fading away, sun is coming.  Flowers are blooming.  Hope is advancing.

You can download the half page devotional and printable cut-outs below!  The devotion is sized to fit into a traveler’s notebook, but you can glue it into any notebook you have laying around.  You can cut out the tabs, flower border, and verse card to use in your Bible journaling.

I tried something new when I was using freebie:  I printed it on sticker paper and velum paper!  It has been so fun to play with different paper.

Definitely don’t get sticker paper at Office Depot.  It was way more expensive than this set on Amazon.  The sticker paper is nice because you don’t need glue!  I also love how it’s see through and allows for cool layering of the different elements.

When using the vellum paper, make sure you let the ink completely dry before touching the paper.  The first time I printed it, I ended up smudging the ink because I was over eager to see what it looked like.  I wasn’t sure how glue would appear under the vellum, so I used a tape runner that worked perfectly to adhere the pieces to the pages of my journal.  The gelatos underneath the vellum look like marble, which I love.

Here’s a YouTube video walking through how I created this spread in my traveler’s notebook.  The page in my traveler’s notebook has the vellum elements, except for the big “hope” blob – that’s sticker paper.

This Bible journaling page only has the sticker elements.
