Advent Freebie – Week 1: Hope

Para leerlo en español, va arriba de la pagina y “click” la bandera españa.

Advent derives from the Latin word “adventus” which means arrival.  Typically, Advent begins the fourth Sunday before Christmas.  For this year, 2017, it starts on December 3rd.  I decided to start a week early, though, since Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday.  Each Sunday before Christmas Eve I will post a new Advent freebie containing a verse card focused on the different topics each week, as well as some other images you can use in Bible or prayer journaling.  Week 1 is all about hope.

I wanted to pick verses that were not necessarily the typical “Christmas” Bible verses.  Week 1 of Advent is all about hope as we anticipate the coming of Jesus.  Hebrews 6:19 came to mind immediately.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain…”

As I kept reading, verse 20 mentioned the reason we celebrate this Christmas season:  Jesus!

I created a Christmas anchor image with these two verses around it.  There are also a few tabs and a tip-in you can use.  It’s fun to print these on sticker paper, vellum, or cardstock.

Other verses about hope to meditate on: Isaiah 40:31 // Matthew 12:21 // Hebrews 3:6 // Romans 5:1-5

Extra note:  I love being able to offer freebies to encourage people in Bible journaling.  It does take lots of time and effort and money to be able to do this.  Would you consider supporting me through purchasing something from my Etsy store?  Click here to see the amazing kits and downloadable resources in my Etsy store.
