Freebie: Two Days Devotion
April was a challenging month. Dealing with a death, disappointment, and challenges filled me with sadness. I spent nights crying, asking God lots of questions. At the same time, I was reading through the gospel of John. God stopped me in my tracks as I read John chapter 11. The story of the death and resurrection of Lazarus was something I had read before, but this time it took a whole new meaning.
“Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus.” John 11:5
Jesus loves us, but that doesn’t exempt us from suffering and sadness and waiting. Nope. That’s a hard pill to swallow, though.
“So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days.”
John 11:6

I meditated a lot on this verse the past month. Jesus cried. He was sad. It is okay for us to be sad, too.

God did something really cool and connected me with Bethany over at Pitter and Glink. I have followed her on Instagram for quite some time, and she is so incredibly talented. When I asked her if she would want to collaborate on a project, she didn’t respond for several weeks, which is rather ironic since the devotion is all about waiting. Turns out, she is in the process of adopting, which was the reason she didn’t get back to me right away. Check out her blog to see how God has been teaching her similar themes about waiting. Check out some of the pages I have created using the devotion and images. I have a traveler’s notebook that I put devotions inside. Typically I glue both pages on the same spread, but this time I wanted more room to journal and write my thoughts. I will share page two in a different blog post.
I also created a spread in my Bible, using the black and white clock Bethany made as a stencil to trace. The tiny polka dots came as inspiration from her artwork.
